MidNite Solar MNSPD-300-DC 300 Surge Protector 300 Volt

The MidNite Solar 300V Surge Protector Device (MNSPD-300-DC) is a Type 1 device per UL1449 rev3. Protection for Classic and other charge controllers, off grid PV combiners. The DC SPD will work well on all DC circuits up to 300 volts as well as any 120/240 VAC circuits. The difference between the AC and DC SPD is the way the LED's are powered. The protection side of things are identical.

The MidNite surge arrestors are designed to clamp surge voltage to safe levels for sensitive electronics. Other arrestors do not even begin to clamp surge voltages until 7000 or 8000 volts. What are they protecting? Not much.

Be aware that numerous arrestors are about to flood the market. They for the most part possess 1/8 the strength of the MidNite arrestors and have no visible indication of performance. Most of these new arrestors require din rail mounting where they WILL blow up and will then be out of sight while they are protecting nothing. We do not have these issues.

The Surge Protection Device is offered in three different voltages to maximize the required protection level. If you want AC protection, there is a different part # MNS-35302.

Protection is achieved by reducing the clamping voltage to a safe level that your system can sustain without damaging any electronics in the system. The MNSPD-300-DC is designed to clamp a 115,000 amp surge! Blue LED's provide visual indication of operation from a distance.
