MidNite Solar 115 Surge Protector 115Volt MNSPD

The MidNite Solar 115V Surge Protector Device (MNSPD-115) is a Type 1 device per UL1449 rev3. Protection for Classic and other charge controllers, off grid PV combiners and 120/240 VAC circuits.

The UL standards have changed and the old standbys will soon no longer be legal to install.

The MidNite surge arrestors are designed to clamp surge voltage to safe levels for sensitive electronics. Other arrestors do not even begin to clamp surge voltages until 7000 or 8000 volts. What are they protecting? Not much.

Be aware that numerous arrestors are about to flood the market. They for the most part posses 1/8 the strength of the MidNite arrestors and have no visible indication of performance. Most of these new arrestors require din rail mounting where they WILL blow up and will then be out of sight while they are protecting nothing. We do not have these issues.

The Surge Protection Device is offered in three different voltages to maximize the required protection level. Protection is achieved by reducing the clamping voltage to a safe level that your system can sustain without damaging any electronics in the system. The MNSPD is designed to clamp a 115,000 amp surge! Blue LED's provide visual indication of operation from a distance.
