Western Red Cedar is the preferred wood species for building because of it's resistance to decay and its dimensional stability.

Traditional cooperage style of construction has been used for hundreds of years for wine vats, water cisterns, and barrels.

These cisterns are real barrels. Both the side and the floor are made of only the finest top quality, 1 5/8" thick, kiln dried, 100% heartwood Western Red Cedar. The floor is supported by 4x4 cedar chine joists on 16" centers. This cedar base elevates the cistern sides 1 1/2" off the ground allowing proper air circulation under the floor. The integral construction of these cisterns allows them to be tower mounted. Inlets and outlets are provided to your specifications. The hoops are made from long lasting stainless steel flat bar. All the hardware is corrosion proof.

Our wooden water tanks have custom made, heavy 25 mil flexible plastic liners, with a life span of 20 years when properly maintained. These liners are drinking water approved.

These cisterns may also be combined with a modular roof design, easily transported and installed. The roof panels are supported by a central aluminium hub which also provides ventilation. All vents are screened to keep out birds and insects.

Cisterns are built, then disassembled for shipping. Two people can carry and setup the numbered pieces, even on rock bluffs and uneven ground. Unlike conventional plastic tanks, which are an eyesore, our Cisterns are attractive structures which add beauty and value to your landscape. Superior strength construction lasts a lifetime. Unlike plastic, Western Red Cedar will not deteriorate from UV radiation.
