Lifeline LL 12V100-27 LiFePO4 Lithium 12 Volt Battery

These LifelineLL 12V100-27 lithium iron phosphate batteries are a premium grade LiFePO4 battery designed to last much longer than traditional lead acid batteries. In reality, where you may need to replace lead-acid batteries every 3 years depending on the way they are maintained, you could be able to use the same set of lithium batteries for over 10 years. Lithium batteries require no regular maintenance other than the occasional dusting off.

Maintenance is one of the conditions that really determines the useful life of a lead-acid battery and even AGM batteries need periodic checking of voltage differential but, with flooded Lead-Acid, you need to periodically add fluid and clean the battery terminals as well.

All batteries do degrade over time, but the rate at which lithium batteries degrade is by far slower than lead-acid batteries, this results in the prolonged lifespan of these LiFePO4 batteries.

More Battery Power

Another major difference between these two battery technologies is the amount of available power each will deliver to your system. In other words, you can store more energy and access more power in lithium-ion batteries because they have a more dense and efficient energy storage system, which translates to more power available to you and your electrical system.

You can run more electrical equipment for longer with lithium batteries and unlike lead-acid batteries, they deliver full power even as the energy level is depleted in their cells. Lead-acid batteries need to maintain at least a 50% charged level to deliver any power to your loads, but lithium batteries can be depleted up to 70% without damaging the batteries or diminishing the available power.

They also weigh about 1/3 of the weight of traditional lead batteries and they are not dangerous, nor do they emit any fumes. With lead batteries, it is recommended that you have a battery power management system installed, but a BMS is essential with a new lithium battery system.

The bottom line is this, if you can afford to replace your lead acid batteries with lithium batteries, you will probably save money over time. You certainly will have more power available for longer periods of time, and you will not need to do any maintenance on the batteries. They are lighter, cleaner, safer, and more efficient.
